What is the Safety Charter?

The Safety Charter is a policy declaration that calls on to measures in order to improve the safety and health on the site of the client as well as during the shop activities of the contractor. Moreover, the Charter aims at an optimal integration between both parties. It has grown out of a concern for the safety of all employees and an initiative of the coordinating sector organisations Agoria and Staalindustrie Verbond.

Will the Welfare Act not do?

The articles in the Welfare Act are general. The Charter proposes specific measures and gives in such a way a clear interpretation of the Welfare Act. Moreover, the Charter serves as a basis for the Act’s specific elaboration.

What is the Charter’s aim?

The Charter wants to improve the safety in the workshop and aims at a permanent collaboration between client and contractor. Every employee is equal and should be protected, wherever he or she works. To avoid industrial accidents and health damage is of main interest, so investments in a safe working environment are a must.
